It was a tough night for Paula Abdul's team on Thursday's (November 3) results episode of "The X Factor," as two of her groups — Stereo Hogzz and InTENsity — were forced to sing for their lives after earning the lowest number of votes following Wednesday's performance episode.

In the end, InTENsity was shown the "X Factor" door, leaving Stereo Hogzz to fight another day in the competition.

Unlike "American Idol," results on "The X Factor" are not based strictly on viewer votes. The two competitors with the lowest vote totals are asked to sing one final song, with the judges ultimately deciding who goes home.

In their big showdown, Houston fivesome Stereo Hogzz tackled Samantha Sang's 1977 hit "Emotion," which was later popularized by Destiny's Child, while InTENsity — the group cobbled together by the judges from 10 eliminated individual singers — took on Kelly Clarkson's "My Life Would Suck Without You."

InTENsity was voted off by a 3-1 vote, with Simon Cowell the lone vote for InTENsity to stay. His vote against Stereo Hoggz came just 24 hours after he said of their performance, "I don't think there's a band in the world right now who are as good as you."

InTENsity's Wednesday mash-up of "Kids in America" and "Party Rock Anthem" earned them high marks from the judges, with L.A. Reid calling the performance "fun, fun, fun" and Nicole Scherzinger dubbing it, "fun-tastic" and "fun-nomenal." Cowell called the performance terrific while Abdul pledged that she was proud of her group.

As Thursday's show rushed toward its finish, no one from InTENsity commented on the group's ouster, with host Steve Jones describing them as "inconsolable" while he threw to the season premiere of "Bones."

Had the judges landed on a 2-2 tie, the act with the lowest number of viewer votes would have been kicked off the show.

Thursday also featured a performance from Outasight, who performed his single "Tonight is the Night," while the top 12 opened the show with a group take on David Guetta's "Without You."
